Katie & Johnny, Fredericksburg VA

Katie & Johnny are personal friends of mine; Katie and I lived across the hall from each other in college. She's been there for me through some of my best and worst times, and I was so happy to be able to be a part of her day.

Their reception was held in Fredericksburg, VA on Saturday at her parents' house, a beautiful home with an outdoor bar and gazebo set up. Katie and Johnny actually got married in Vegas last month, so this was their reception for everyone to get together and have fun. It was a blast to get to photograph them in such a casual setting and spend time with friends, as well!

The photos I'm choosing to post for this day aren't the typical ones I'd necessarily post, but rather the ones I felt reflect my friends' personalities best.

The bride, Katie:

The groom, Johnny:

Two of my favorite people (Katie and my husband Brian):

This picture, though not necessarily technically perfect, to me perfectly shows Katie and Johnny. The little boy is Katie's nephew JP and the light of her life; I love the way that Johnny is looking at Katie with so much respect while she plays with JP.

Their beautiful (and tasty!) cake:

The cake cutting didn't get too out of hand!

There were a number of subtle Vietnamese and Chinese touches in respect of Johnny's family:

This little girl was adorable (and incredibly social!):

Thanks for having us, guys!! We love you!

Jennifer + Emily

I did a quick session with my next door neighbor Jennifer who wanted a picture of how she looks pregnant with her first child Emily to share with her long-distance mother. No outfit changes or anything, just two friends in a field behind our houses. :) She and her husband will be amazing parents and I look forward to meeting Emily!
